EASY BUILD KITS

I mainly supply laser cut kits and components for wagons  in
1 gauge  2 1/2”, 3 1/2”, 5” and 7 1/4” gauge  and soon perhaps 0 and 10 1/4” as well.
These are only in standard gauge so far but narrow gauge models in 16mm and 5” are almost ready.
The kits are to my ‘Easy Build’ design. They use a laser cut steel chassis for steel under frame wagons or a laser cut steel sub-frame for wooden under frame wagons. These incorporate the ‘W’ irons, axle guards, and ‘V’ hangers with the sole bar and include all the brake gear but in dummy form.   With the addition of axle boxes, wheels and buffers etc., not yet supplied but being developed, a quite realistic scale appearance under frame can be produced quite easily and quickly.
The matching bodies are laser cut MDF or plywood, tabbed and slotted to aid quick and accurate assembly, with laser cut card or steel to form all the body side iron work.
The advantage of this method of construction is that it enables me to produce variations of the standard wagons quite easily and for no, or very little, additional cost. I recently did the iron work for a freelance long wheel base open wagon to suite a customers body for a driving truck.

The first set of wagons are all based on the Railway Clearing House (RCH) 9ft. wheel base 16ft. 6in long wooden under frame type. This is the steel sub frame with dummy brakes etc.

To fit the above under frame there is a 5 plank end door open wagon body.

Ready soon will be a 5 plank side door body

A 7 plank end door and 7 plank bottom door (pictured) open wagon body.

Also ready to order is a 7 plank end door body.

Also for the 9ft. Under frame is a pitched roof salt wagon.

The second set will be for the 10ft wheel base 17ft 6in long steel under frame.

The under frame is being proved but there are no bodies for it yet.

Also being proved is the similar 16ft wheel base 24ft long steel under frame for brake vans, and next will be a 12ft wheel base under frame.

After several requests from potential customers I have started to do narrow gauge wagons also. The first is based on a Festiniog Railway mineral wagon in both 16mm and 5” gauge. The body is available to order. The under fame will be developed when I can find some time.
